Health and Safety in the Productive Workplace

Health and Safety in the Productive Workplace

A safe workplace is a productive workplace. This module ensures citizens understand health and safety requirements while maintaining peak chargeability performance.

Learning objectives

  • Identify common workplace hazards and prevention measures
  • Understand ergonomic requirements for desk-based workers
  • Know first aid procedures and emergency contacts
  • Report workplace incidents through the correct channels
  • Balance safety compliance with chargeability requirements

  1. Workplace Hazard Identification (20 min): Common hazards in NDRC workplaces, risk assessment basics, and the hierarchy of controls
  2. Ergonomic Excellence (20 min): Optimal workstation setup for maximum productivity, break scheduling that minimises chargeability impact, and exercises to maintain peak performance
  3. Incident Response (20 min): What to do when an incident occurs, first aid basics, reporting through the COMPASS system, and time recording for safety incidents
  4. Safety and Chargeability (20 min): How safety incidents affect team chargeability rates, the importance of prevention over cure, and how to record safety-related non-billable time
  5. Assessment (20 min): 20-question assessment. Minimum pass mark: 75%

Important note on chargeability

Time spent on genuine health and safety activities is recorded under WBS-008 (Health & Safety Compliance) at 0% chargeability. To minimise impact on your chargeability rate, complete this training during designated non-peak hours where possible. Fabricating safety incidents to avoid billable work is a disciplinary offence.
